I sat in one of these recently. Definitely felt more like a gussied up Accord trying to look like a BMW rather than an authentic BMW/German Car. My friend actually said that first without even hearing my thoughts on it.

Somewhere in the depths of this thread, somebody mentioned how Hyundai abandons design choices immediately and completely. I saw one of these on the road last week. It wasn't an unattractive car, but unidentifiable as a later generation of the car it replaced. The new Sonata is the same. This is an evil thing to do to customers, as it pillages brand identity and presumably resale value.

That would be me (as one of many), and indeed/agreed. Rule #1 for luxury brands (and those who want to be as such): Brand identity, which is a byproduct of timelessness, which effectively raises the customer culture by protecting aging cars by keeping them relevant and perceptive-ly cared for.

I saw Hyundai Genesis 3.8 AWD white yesterday in action first time. Its rear was quite wide. I like LED tail light and turn signal.

Recently sat in a Genesis at a car show. Really nice interior... leather and headliner quality were excellent on the loaded model they had on the floor.

MSRP might be cheaper than a comparable BMW or Merc, but leasing one will probably cost more. Hyundai doesn't subsidize their residuals to the same extent as BMW or Mercedes. You really have to want a Genesis because you're not saving any money.
