I guess you could, but it would be a real pain because the headlight is a unit and I don't think anyone sells just the cover. You could also try one of the headlight polishing kits on the market now, or just replace the entire unit.
Depends on how bad the scratch is on your headlight, you can alway try to use some scratch X. I used that before on the Lexus headlights, I had good results from it. Or the Freight Harbor sells a headlight cleaning kit..pretty cheap.
I don't think you can simply replace the lens. Replacing the whole headlight assembly will cost more money than you think ($300-$600 each). If you use a lens cleaner/restorer be very careful. Use a brand name and follow the instructions. If you buff or polish too hard you will end up having to buy a very expensive new headlamp.
You can sand it out no matter how deep it is.
A very deep scratch will leave a depression after final polishing.
I shallow scratch not so much.
You could take it to a place like tap plastics for polishing out the scratch.
They would likely charge $50 or so for a scratch repair and full polishing.
The kits are $20 dollars or so and are great i used one with great sucess.
You could also ignore the scratch.
Once you polish the thing you might not notice the scratch as much.
