F15 OEM retrofit compact spare tire

Hey all,

I was PM'd a question regarding the spare tire option on the F15 in the USA. It seems many people are buying F15s with no spare tire option(SA300), then wanting to retrofit one in and get rid of their runflats. However, in the United States the retrofit part number from the dealer is not a valid part number, and the dealers cannot order it.

So, went on a bit of a hunt! Tracked down an F16 that was ordered with 20" sport tires/wheels AND the optional spare tire. Pulled the tire/kit out and got as many part numbers as I could find, and was able to verify that the part number listed on RealOEM was in fact the same parts kit installed in this F16! The part number is 36 11 0 007 376, found here.

Next, I started looking for a source on this elusive kit. Turns out, many european dealers know the USA cannot order this part, so The large auction site that ends in Bay and a few other sites I found have this kit for sale, searched for BMW 36 11 0 007 376. Cost was a bit steep after international shipping(~$400), but offered peace of mind for me. I also ended up ordering one pack of 51 45 2 353 024 so put the foam pads on the sheet metal, the factory ordered F16 I found had pads installed there so I figured I would do it too.

You could also order all the parts separately for mounting/holding the wheel(available in the USA, but total MSRP comes out closer to $500), see here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=71_0591

BMW compact wheel:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_1025

BMW Part number for Continental CST17 spare tire, size 155/90/18:
36 12 0 428 313

Pics attached.

P.S. This retrofit is NOT suitable for any vehicle that has had the sport brake retrofit done! The spare tire will no longer clear the increased caliper sizes.

Pricing is about on par, +107 for the Jack and +40 for the tray. Didn't look into shipping costs from them.

You've got the BimmerZone link above, or the Bavarian AutoZone. They even have free shipping right now.

You have more than "jsut" the spare, right? I paid $280 for my parts (spare, styrofoam, etc) from the dealer. I think it came to $380 before the discount.

No, you would have to keep it in your open cargo area behind the seat. There isn't enough space underneath the cargo floor for the spare tire kit when you have the third row seat option. At least that's what I understand.

I put a small tire repair kit it mine. Comes with plugs, slime and a small compressor. About $30-$50 from walmart. Alot of other car makers include these now instead of spares. My wife's Caddy had one from the factory.
