2014 X5 50i Bubbling rims

I have a wheel issure on all 4 Rims. They are bubbling up around the emblem.
Car is still under warranty. I contacted my dealer and they say it from cleaning produts and salt. I offered to purchase the extended warranty if they fixed the issue.

So they offerd to split the cost. I say this is BS.
Anyone else have this issure?

Alloy Rim Failure

Alloy Rim Failure, dealer at First Refused, now they say they will pay half. They said cleaner or salt got in it.

This is BS on an 80K + car within warranty period. Anyone else have this problem?

This is from rust on the hub eating into the wheel and the center cap. This is not an isolated incident. This happens and almost every post-recession BMW I owned.

"Mo Money Mo Problems". This has nothing to do with the price of the vehicle but if you have the x5m rotors/brake kit it does not happen unless you own an E70 X5M.

I haven't had that happen on any BMW. I've seen it on a Toyota that I owned. I'm not sure if it's from the center hub as iconoclast mentioned but if it is then you may want to make sure the wheel will come off if you need to change a tire. Ask the dealer to take a look and coat the hub with copper grease or something that will ensure the hub and wheel don't become seized. Raise the issue as a safety concern that you won't be able to replace the wheel rather than making it a cosmetic issue.

Several Spin balances?

When I purchased this new back in 14. I had a tire issue. They changed and spin balanced all of the tires at least 10 times maybe more. They had to give me all new tires after that did not fixx it. Do you think that had something to do with it?

See my older posts on mine with 9k miles that it started to bubble- mine was the cap on all 4 and 1 rim. (picture too)
I bought all new caps and noticed it's a 1 piece design.

How is 50i relevant? Your motor doesn't cause your wheels to bubble. What might be useful is the type of rim you have such as the basic 19" 449 or 20" 451 or 469. Pics are also helpful.

Edit: I just noticed you have 2 threads regarding this. Hmm.

thats why your wheels are corroding around the center caps.
everytime the tire shop slides the wheel on to their balancer, it scratches the paint on the inner bore. then corrosion gets under the paint or clear. but good luck trying to ask a tire shop to be gentle.

I change out my wheels twice a year to put on snow tires. Never had this issue.

Yes about five years ago they started laying down liquid de-ice (salt) to stem black ice and light snow fall compaction.

look at this video.
guy slides the rim on the shaft. scratches....
then he uses a cone shape metal piece to clamp rim. this is a big no no on a alloy wheel. the bore gets scratched and scuffed. always ask a tire shop how they clamp the wheel. you want them to use a rubber face clamp.
