07 335i Part out, fix or Junk

I am posting for my mom, she has a 335i that has just quit, the BMW shop has given her an estimate of $8000 to fix it. After she bought it, she found out that it was a lemon, with a salvage title so she can't sell it or trade it in. She owes $8000 on it. I know there are some good parts on it that should be worth something to a BMW enthusiast on here. I don't know what is wrong with it, and have not seen the diagnostic report.
Does anyone on here have any advice? Her current plan is to pay it off and sell it to the scrap yard.

.

Sooo what exactly does dealer propose to do?

Seek bids at Indy shoppe, BMW-centric. You may find they come in half that price.

If she didn't find out that it was a salvage title until after she bought it, then she has a fraud case. Talk to an attorney.

Had to get a loan on a salvage title???
Please specify...salvage title due to lemon buyback? How does she know it's a lemon?
What's the $8k bill for, trans?
Mikes, model, etc.

How long has she owned it?

All of these unanswered questions..

If it's nothing to do with the engine, you can get decent money for that assuming it has lower miles.

You mean the title still says salvage and not rebuilt?

She was able to register and license a salvage title?

More info

I found out that it is listed as a lemon on Carfax. It is a real title not a salvage. It has about 130,000 miles. It has an oil pan leak, AC has a leak, radiator has a leak, and it idles irractically, dies when put in to gear, and is hard to start. It is hard to get info out of her, it is a sore spot, she is done with it. Any advice? Are there any aftermarket diagnostic programs you can hook one up to?

1) You can register & license salvage title cars in most if not all states.

2) I'd take a frame damaged salvage title car with no airbags over a lemon buyback any day.

3) Sorry about her luck. Those repairs she needs at 130k miles are normal maintenance for BMW w/130k. Being an 07 & a "lemon," I'd bet it was the fuel pump that got it to the lemon status. These cars are not known for their longevity. They are known for low quality, high cost of repairs...and when running correctly, a blast to drive.

It's definitely not worth spending any money on it. Sounds like something a car theif couldn't even take.

You could probably part it out: $2500 engine
$2500 trans
$1000 interior
$500 wheels
$300 airbags
$1000 turbos
Misc parts.

Might be able to sell it for $4k as is to someone.

Good luck
