Was this the original warranty or an extended one?

one question (sorry if it's already been asked & answered - what's the sequence when cleaning & lub'ing the rubbers re propping the roof open?

I started the car to get to the point of access, but do I leave the engine running or is it ok to prop the roof against the top of the screen & switch off?

Thanks in advance
David

Just position the top for access to the seals and linkage shut the engine off and then move to another location to get access to other seals and linkage.
Just restart the engine before moving the top to keep from pulling the battery down...

Many thanks for that - on my SL when I do this the roof starts to fall one way or the other so needs to be propped open

So a question. I got a great offer for a 3 year extended warranty (BMW Platinum) But it seems that the only thing it covers as far as the top goes is the motors.
I checked with a small local shop I use normally until I got my new BMW and they are $300 a pop and another 2-300 for installation.
That makes me think if an extended warranty is worth it? Don't mean to highjack this thread but can anyone clarify if the top is covered in the warranty or not beyond the motors?
To me the other thing that might go bad are the seals/rubber linings etc and without that covered well...

Depends how often do you plan to open and close the top? Do you care for your top regarding seals and linkage? Once you answer those questions you will have an idea if the extended warranty is worth it. My opinion is that there are other things that might cause the warranty to be a good investment;
water pump tstat housing
oil filter housing gasket
valve cover gasket
ABS/DSC/Brake module.
Hope this helps....

Yes get the warranty. Wven of they don't cover seals, get it.

If you use the roof like I do, you will eventually rwplace the motor and hall sensors.

Don't even ask how much that motor costs to replace.

It is embarrassing to have the roof stuck midway and tow the car on a flatbed with a stuck roof to thw dealer...

Adk me how I know this.
