I just received my i3 back from service on 11/10/16. They applied Programming B 61 21 16 for recall SIB612116.

I have been able to code back all my usual favorites like disabling the disclaimers and gongs, enabled the Range Extender Menu, and increasing the fuel tank usable size.

One of my favorite settings however no longer seems to work. I previously had been able to set the number of blinks of the turn signal by setting 3068 -> BLINKZYKLEN_ANZAHL_TIPP in the BDC Body Module equal to the zero based count of the blinks I want (04 for 5 blinks).

The initial value of this setting is now 00 (it used to be 02) and changing it does not seem to have any impact on the number of blinks (always 3 now).

Anyone else experience this issue? Is there any other setting that anyone is aware that can do this now?

Thanks!
blink does not work for me neither.

BTW, how do i confirm tank size got larger? the change seems minimal or negligible after changing from 7 to 8 ltr. also there is 8.5 ltr option in the latest sw. can it be set to 8.5?

Few more coding questions:

1) with E-sys 3.27.1 & PSdzData.Lite.v3.59.3, "Enable Hold-Mode for Range Extender" shall be set to 02 (REX), not 01 (PZEV) as appeared in tutorial. anyone else to confirm?

2) what is "enable developer option"?

3) what is "navi trip-import"?

4) what is "video in motion"?
Did anyone else figure this out about the battery meter (SOC) disappearing from the main dish board screen. Apparently this happened me after a recent visit to the dealership for software update

If you have BDC_Body with updated firmware with factory value now at 00 (rather than previous 02), then changing soft blink no longer works.

For tank size, you immediately see difference on cluster. You are limited by physical tank size.

Hi Shawn, I have an i3. Can you please send me the latest Esys and PSdZData download links? Also a cheatsheet with codes. Is there an updated coding step by step documentation I can download too? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

With the words "bmw i3 coding tutorial" the second one shows a tutorial where you can find the actual links

There are also multiple solutions and some untrusted sites. Nothing wrong with going through Bimmerfest to get latest software and guides.

Hi @ All i3 Fans,

I did programm some options on an old i3 with software stand 11 / 14. Now I must bring the car to the workshop for a update while the Navi reboots and does not accept windows phones without reeboots. Is it possible to overwrite the new files with the old parameter files from e-sys after the service is done? Ist there a Manual available? What ist now the latest Software Version for the i3? What e-sys Version do i need for this version? Thank you to all the Fans.

If vehicle is programmed, you do not want to load NCD's from earlier firmware.

Thank you. So is there may be a tool what can see both versions old and new and show the difference to me? Is it possible to change the options offline and play it later back in the vehicle?

PM me FA and SVT and I will send back potential software updates. There are no release notes for features, if that is for what you are looking.

Yes, you can code offline (ie make changes in FDL-editor) and then re-connect computer when ready to apply changes. No extra tools necessary.

Thank you Almaretto, I will wait now until the car is updated and send you the old and new files if I can read them out with my actual version.

Alright. Just FYI (from my "getting started" docs):

Per above instructions, make sure to move CAF files before "Reading Coding Data," both so you do not overwrite existing files as well as avoid confusion with new files.

i3 coded SOC_HOLD_POSITION to be > 6% but it doesn't work

I see posts from other folks that have modified the SOC_HOLD_POSITION value to change the automatic start point for the REX above 6% and have noticed that the hold point on the display (small diamond) moves, but the REX still starts at 6%.

Has anyone figured out if this really can be changed or if it is simply a display change? I already have the manual REX hold option but want the default to be higher than 6% for other drivers of the car.

That can be done, as DVD IN MOtion will sell you a program that will do it...but, I can't help on what it actually changes to make it work. The i3 Programming forum on FB probably can if you want to join.

DVD in Motion solution is script activation that does not change FDL's; it is not needed for ID4. Coding at no charge can be done for the I001.
