Help. Need advice between X35i and X50i

My wife and I are looking for replacement to our 750Li after an accident. We are currently looking into purchasing 2017 X50i Msport but price is higher than we were looking to spend.

Here is the question, is everything the same besides the engine in the X35i Msport?

Coming from E46 M3 ZCP and 750Li Msport I am favoring the X50i Msport. But wife does make valid point of the car carrying a hefty price tag.

Thanks!

Did you not tell the wife what the M3 ZCP and the 750Li Msport cost? I can't imagine the X50i MSport being any more expensive than either of those, in relative dollar terms. Look at what those two cars would cost you today, compared to the X50i MSport. I know the 750Li is more, and the M3 w/ZCP is going to be close, if not more.

In regards to the interior and all the tech it remains the same, if the 50i is a bit out of budget another route you can go is to get some M Performance parts on the 35i. Primiarly the M Performance Power Kit, and M Performance Exhaust. I makes the exhaust note much nicer on the 35i as well as the power kit giving it more prepr in its step. Don't quote me on this but I believe the exhaust is only available if you select the M Sport package when building your car (which I recommend) and you can order the M Performance stuff straight from the factory. Best of all they are covered under BMW factory warranty unlike other ECU tunes, of course it's no V8 but it'll still bring a smile on your face.

Thank you

Thanks for the reply.

Just went with the X50i Msport. Taking delivery tomorrow morning. Will have pics soon.

Specs: Black Sapphire Metallic/Black Dakota Leather
Exec pkg, Msport pkg, DriverAsstPlus Pkg, 3rd Row(did not want but what they had)

Already ordered: Msport Grills, WeatherTech floor mats(we have a big dog) and a 1yr old son, Msport key fob

Feel like I'm in a BMW version of the recent VW commercial.

^^ This. (G_NAGRA's post)

35i < 40e < 35i MPPK/Dinan < 50i < 50i Dinan < X5M, IMHO.

There is no Dinan 40e currently, and may never be (?).

Of course, that's a spectrum that roughly doubles the price of the vehicle, as you march up it.

Everyone knows where I stand, so I'll shut up now.

Congrats on the new ride! I got stuck with the 3rd row too, hate it but don't mind the rear comforts being added because of it. Looking forward too pictures!

A quick side note to the topic...
I have a x35i with the Dinan tune. Is it worth, or any noticeable difference, by adding the MPPK package?

You might clarify if the "tune" here means s $300 warranty-voiding Dinan boost tweak chip alone or is the full Dinan sensor overlay kit, which is warranty-supported, but which costs thousands.

https://www.dinancars.com/products/?...i-f15&mid=1210

If that's what you mean (and it appears to be), for me at least, the huge difference is that the warranty "does not cover consequential damages (or labor) in a big red warning on the $300 jobby.

Ignoring risk, I'll let others speak to whether full sensor pack is actually superior.

Thank you all. Didn't get to participate much when I was in the 750Lxi. Glad to be back.

Sorry, not what I was meaning to ask.

I have the Stage 1 Dinan Upgrade.

I do not have the MPPK.

I am wondering if it's worth adding the MPPK to my existing Stage 1 Dinan.

Gorgeous car! What about the front end?

@ipak - I donut think adding the MPPK to it will do much, however I'd recommend adding the MPPE if you already don't have an exhaust on it.

No - it's pointless. There are two Dinan Stage 1 kits...for those with or without the MPPK package. Both get your vehicle to the same place. The Dinan Stage 1 without the MPPK provides the exact same performance as the one with MPPK...the former Just provides more horsepower than the later, as your car is starting from a place with less horsepower.

Well BMW doesn't make a 3.5 so that's not really an issue. If you're gonna try to be a Bimmer snob, at least know your product lines.

Thanks for the insight!

I don't think i'm going to do any exhaust work...not enough performance gain and the single exhaust company that I was considering gets an exhaust note thats a touch aggressive.

Sorry... typo and by no means was that "snobbish" I was simply stating an opinion. Drive the 50 and you won't want to go back

Trading your money for a number of BMWs is no guarantee of knowledge. Plenty of proof of that around these boards.
