Clarification on electronic brake controller install

My 2012 Touareg TDI is part of the VW buyback and I just purchased a 2014 X5 diesel to replace it as my toy hauler. I find it rather odd that even with the diesel models it's impossible to find these SAV's with the tow package installed. I have most of my ducks in a row, I purchased the towing control unit gizmo and i'm in the process of fabricating the $600!! tow/hitch harness. I went with the draw-tite 75600 towbar. I am now pondering the setup of my Tekonsha P3 brake controller, but I am seeing a lot of differing opinion on brake controller setup. I hope someone can clarify, please.

I've heard there is a connector under the front cup holders, then i heard you don't need one at all, the tow module incorporates it, then I've read many people just go with the RF. Can anyone confirm if the wiring for a brake controller exists and where I would find it?

Thank You,

-RP

BMW does not prewire the F15 (or any of their vehicles) with an under-dash connector for a brake controller. Some other manufacturers do this on their SUVs, but not BMW. If you decide to use a wired brake controller, like the P3, you will have to run wire inside the vehicle from the rear to the driver area. The tow harness has a built-in connector for a brake controller (power, ground, brake depressed, and proportional signal out) but that connector will be in the rear. Your other option, as you mentioned, is a wireless RF controller, in which case you don't have to run wire to the front. You just need 30amps of 12v power at the trailer receptacle.
