The passenger window on my 318 convertible isn't going down the 1/2 inch or so it usually does when I pull up on the door handle to allow for opening/closing without hitting roof. I've found several posts referring to a "striker button" but my '94 model doesn't have any button to check/replace. Does anybody have experience with this problem on a '94?
I have the same problem on 1994 Convertible but on the driver's side. There is no apparent switch near the door striker. On this model is it built in to the striker? Does the striker need to be replaced, or is the switch located somewhere else?
I found out that the switch is inside the door panel. On the passenger side the window will go up if the door latch is closed while the door is open, and then will go down once the handle is lifted, so the switch is inside the door panel and not on the door jam. Does anyone have the procedure how to remove the door panel & replace the switch?
If you want the procedure of how to get the striker out I think I have seen it over at BFC. Use the search mode in the E36 section.
Regarding resetting the windows just lower the window using the switch, keep holding the switch in the down position for 5 seconds longer. Repeat for raising the window and now your window brain knows the limits...
In case you haven't found it yet, here's the procedure to replace the microswitch in the door latch mechanism that controls the window drop-on-open action:
This applies to early 1994 models that don't have the switch in the striker plate.
