Hello again folks, hope all is well.
I had noticed that my front tires were worn down to the innards (literally) on the inside. I put new tires (on the rear side) and moved the old rears to the front, and now I am noticing some inside wear on these as well. Further, even though the car holds the road pretty straight, every now and again, when over a bump, I'll feel like she moves to one side (not sure which).
What could be the problem? I last did a full alignment in January after fixing the RTABS for a $ 650 @ BlackForest Motors in Indianapolis! That guy did mention that there was some wear on the tie-rods (inner+outer). Could this cause such wear?
So I purchased the entire tie rod assembly for both sides from Pelican and will have a local fellow do it (has done them before) for $ 220 including alignment.
Big question is - could there be something else that I might need to fix before I do another alignment? Control arm bushings plus ball joints?
Apart from this is there anything else that might be causing tire (inner) wear? I can't afford to do all things at once, but I'll be looking at the swaybar brackets/bushings next.
How much would a decent indie mechanic charge for doing:
Tie rods, inner+outer (I have them, so only labor)
Control arm bushings + outer ball joints
Sway bar brackets + bushings?
Any thoughts/advice? Thanks a lot.
