I just picked my 1M up today from Motorwerks BMW in Minnesota 1st of only 3 that there are getting. And all i can say is wow this car is really a great addition to the M family. I am a huge fan of NA engines but if this is how they have to come then thats fine but my e46 M3 is never going any where.
Alright I have put about 250+ miles on the car now and I must say I am amazed with the car to say the least. I have never really cared for turbo powered cars before but this car just blows my mind. First the looks,Ii have owed my e46 M3 sence new and still to this day love to look at it. I didn't get the same feeling with my e92 M3, so i sold it. To see this car with its HUGE wheel arches is crazy and the front bumper you know from a mile away that this car is packing something under the hood. Then you have the motor, BMW says 335HP but I think thats a little off because this car just goes like hell!!! Now this isnt the fastest car I have owned maybe not even the top 5 but the way the power comes on and how you sit in the car it really feels like your moving and you are. Now to the grip alot of magizines have said that when it let's go the rear end steps out fast and is not as controled as the e92 m3. I can see that, with its short wheel base if you take any corner at speed you can see that little orange light blink in the dash. Overall I would say I love this car. Everyone is compairing it to the e30 M3 but i think its a lot more like my e46 in terms of weight and power. They feel a lot alike except for one little thing or should i say 370 little things. Any gear at any speed the car picks up and goes. Something I would have to have my e46 in the 4000+rpm range to feel but thats the price of turbos I guess. I have been told that only 500 of these cars will be bulit and sold to us here in the states with the last ones being built in December. I dont know if thats true but I can say that I love the car and Im glad that we have finally got a car that is this cool in the states. You always see really cool cars being sold only in Europe but now this one makes it here.
Congrats, as a former E46 M3 and 2007 M Coupe owner, I am definitely curious about the 1M. I have currently ordered a TT-RS to try something different, mine's due in early August and the pricing is still not announced. If it comes in too high, I'm out and the 1M would be a consideration. I haven't dropped in here lately, looks like they're just starting to hit the streets.
So you have a car coming in august or you can order it in august? The TTrs looks cool i hope its a great car i had 2 s4 and sold them because of the lazy tranny maybe thats just a characteristic of the audi auto. but it kind of sucks that there will be no duel clutch for launch control but six speed is ok too.
I ordered Sepang Blue with Aluminum exterior package, will look like the test car in Car and Driver's comparison. The arrival is next month, not next week, but yeah not knowing price sucks.
Just came back from Germany
Can't wait to see it home
