Litchfield County, CT - October 26/27 2012.

--------------------------------------------------

This idea has been kicked around in the Climb to the Clouds 4 thread but in order to get proper attention it deserves a thread of its own.

After the sucess of Climb to the Clouds 4 we are seriously considering a Fall Foliage run in Western New England

______________________________
This will be a two day event (Saturday and Sunday) and some may want to arrive Friday night,

The Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville, Ct. is reserving a block of rooms until the end of August. We will be able to book one or two nights. Alternately rooms can be booked at the Iron Masters Inn which is a motel down the road. A bit less elegant but also slightly less expensive. Both placed serve complimentary breakfast, Friday night dinner will be at the Boathouse Restaraurt in Lakeville which is a 5 minute drive from either loction.

Saturday morning arter breakfast we will drive to Lime Rock and meet in the Sunoco Paddock at Lime Rock which will be reseverved for us. We will stop by the Lime Rock Club Clubhouse and then head down to Michelin Tower (the timing tower). We will raffle off Hot Laps with one of the Club Instructors in the Clubs M3. We will then have a brief tour of the track. Lunch will be at the Lime Rock Cafe (which is nothing fancy - burgers, sandwiches, etc.), We will then head out for a drive on some of the areas scenic roads, stop for a picture taking opportunity at "Captain Audio's Driveway" (Housatonic Meadows State Park) and contintue on to the Falls Village Inn for dinner, The Falls Village Inn is going to prepare a Prix Fixe menu with several menu choices and we will have our own private room.

Sunday morning after breakfast we will head to Winsted CT. (we will pick some scenic road) for a private tour of The American Mural Project and then we will all head home.

Here is an in car video from a few years ago that a friend of mine who was my guest at the Drivers Club took of a hot lap around LRP in an M5 (which was the pace car that year).
"Sideways Simon" Kirkby, who is the director and chief instructor fot the Drivers Club is at the wheel. At 1:49 you can see why the Cayman Club named him "Sideways Simon" after a few of them (and Bimmerfester Professor Cook) took hot laps with him in an M3. Drifiting may not be the fastest way around Big Bend but it makes for a spectacular ride,

Love the "Sideways Simon" nickname, this is a great promotional video for the upcoming hot laps with him. Thanks for sharing it, Captain!

This looks like a lot of fun! Hopefully the foliage hangs out as long as it did last year (but without the snow this time)...
So are you attending?

Herding Cats

There is an updated attendee list in post #1

We need to know who is coming to dinner Friday and Saturday so we can set up the reservations at the restaurants.

Confirmed. Put us in for everything, including the Robin.
Great

Call them to book your room (if you have not already) at 860.435.2000 and tell them you are with the Bimmerfest group. If they don't know what you are talking about ask to speak to Shaffin.

Don't remember of the top of my head but they did give a small discount. Speak to Shaffin tomorrow. The rates are lower in the auxiliary building than in the main inn,

There are very few places to stay in the Lime Rock area so there are no great bargains,

Booked in at the Wake Robin Inn.

Looks like a very nice place. A tad pricey, but not obscene. I will note, however, that I have paid less for a 2 story duplex suite in Avignon. ;)

I have stayed there many times and will be there for 4 nights labor day weekend. It is a very nice place and the price is in line with other places in the area (of which there are very few)

Working on my reservations as well. Sent an email to Shaffin and waiting for a callback so I can get this done and focus on identifying some scenic drives for that weekend.

Sideways Simon here I come!!! ;)

#107 ·
Booked two nights. Looking forward to it.

You haven't won the raffle yet, Bemo!
All set and booked too! As for the hot laps, I'm focusing on the plurality of the word "lapS"
If too few of us show up, hopefully it won't be too difficult for all of us to get one.

Captain - What say you? :)

#113 ·
The list in Post #1 has been updated.

If you are attending please make sure you are on the list and that the info is correct.

What time is Friday night's dinner? Our making it there at a reasonable time to attend it may not be possible.

Best regards,
George

We have not set a time yet .
What time do you plan on arriving?

CA

#117 ·
The Boatyard is fun, they used to offer free dinners if it was your birthday. Not sure they still do that ;)

#118 ·
I am thinking dinner at 8:00 since number of people will be traveling after work,

CA

#119 ·
If dinner's at 8, we'll definitely be there.

#120 ·

This sounds like fun and a great opportunity to finally meet some of the Bimmerfest regulars. Unfortunately, my 335is is in Florida so I'll have to take another car.

I'm going to call and try to get a room reservation for Friday and Saturday night at the Wake Robin Inn. It's about a 4+ hour drive without heavy traffic if that's possible.

I'm planning on including my wife if she has recovered enough from her foot surgery by then.

Wake Robin has a block of rooms on hold until the end of the month (week). Tell them you are with the Bimmerfest group. If they don't know what you are talking about ask to speak to Schaffin.

Traffic should not be to bad if you avoid the GWB and cross the Hudson at the Tappen Zee.

The block of rooms at the Wake Robin Inn is being held until tomorrow so if you are planning on staying there get your reservations made,

We are heading to Lime Rock in a few hours for the Historic Festival coming back Monday and then on Thursday we are heading to Watkins Glen for the Vintage Grand Prix.

So the Wake Robin Inn is out for us...

Ms. Bemo found another place ~ 10 miles away from Lakeville, for ~ $150 per night in Sheffield, MA. Here is the URL:http://rblodge.com/

LQAddict, us, and another friend are going to be staying there. If you want to join the column and save few bucks, go ahead and book and let us know :)

I am at Lime Rock today for the vintage races. "Sideways Simon Kirkby" just won a race in the BMW CSL that Sam Posey raced at Sebring and Daytona. DSX and ///M-Rated bought autographed pictures of that car (signed by Sam Posey) at the C2C4 auction,

I am heading to Lime Rock Saturday and will be working on the arrangements.

I need to know how many people will be showing up for dinner Fri and Sat. how many will be at LRP and how many will be at the Wall of America,

#136 ·
Chuck, my wife may be joining me for the wall of Sunday, so I'm a definite for Saturday (solo) and a tentative duo for Sunday.
