Another 1987 325e Question. :)

I've been looking all over Google and what not about this, and it's bringing me to sites about the difference between the 325e, 325i, etc. :P So I'm here to ask you guys. I have an automatic tranny in my '87 325e, and I notice there is an "s" option as a gear. I know it means Sport (I hope ) and I just wanted to know what *exactly* the Sport option does to my car. Thanks

basically moves the shifting point from near where maximum torque is generated up to the redline so that the car shifts less and therefore more forward motion and less gearshift delays. so in normal driving situations it will mean the car pretty much stays in 3rd gear unless max rpm is reached where it will kick into 4th, or if the rpm drop so that it would be inside the revband of 2nd gear then it will drop to 2nd. thats about it on the E30. if thats hard to understand, go on the freeway and floor it from 0mph to 62mph and then repeat with sport mode on and you will see it revs out further than it did the first time
