obviously, the tag is reasonable to them. the dealer's charge for a battery replacement is $485. i dropped my '05 E53 for the 90K Insp. I on monday...thus far, still in the shop; i wonder what other unnecessarily necessary craps are added on to the bill. anyways, just enjoying the anemic loaner '11 328i.

Time to become a member of Xoutpost.com and read up on www.e38.org, do some SEARCHING and learn how to do all this stuff yourself. I personalyl recommend a COMPLETE cooling system overhaul at 100k...radiator, waterpump, thermostat, hoses, expansion tank, valley pan gasket, sparkplugs, precat 02 sensors, and maybe even the MAF.

I can hear Suzy Orman now "The losses you're going to lose on the trade-in value coupled with the dealership profits they'll make on the new car will outweight the price of your repairs", which definately sounds like the case in this situation. To each their own though.

belts, bushings and cv boot are are legit....if you vehicle ain't leaking coolant...wait till it does....it's not going to be catastrophic as long as the hoses look in decent shape...if you are leaking oil from the heads and it's dripping all over fix it, if not, leave it..no harm....driveshaft...when it goes your car won't go forward....fix when it breaks or if it shows lots of wear.
