Window regulators

What is the story on the e39 window regulators? I now have 3 windows yet do not work. I'm seriously fed up with this issue. I tried the replacement of the ones in the rear and they broke a month later. I'm afraid to touch the one on the passenger side door. Any suggestions?

Switches are good... As much as I love Bmw, I think my next one will be a e30 with manual crank windows. No issues out of my first one. Lol. I suppose I'll give it the ole college try this weekend and maybe try to hate it less..

I think it's the rollers that are bad.
Not much you can do about it.
One manufacturer has updated the rollers.
I forget which one that is though.

I'm always afraid to use my back ones too. They always break. My front ones have been good so far.

So as a new owner am I to understand a common thing which works on 20yr old, beat-up hunting trucks, does not work on a $70k car? Why? Are there improved parts we can upgrade to?

I looked up my sales receipt.
Uro is the only window regulator manufacturer for the E39 (and a few other models) that has "upgraded rollers".

I spoke to the Uro engineer about it.
Call them.

They swear their Uro regulators last forever.
I've only had mine a short time so I can't tell you if they do or if they don't.

Anyone here have had Uro in the last year or two?

The main resone why the back regulator fails is the lack of lub in the side weather strip that the glass moves in, so a lot more force is on the regulator and that tiny tooth thing holding the cable causing it to fail. The other thing is that when the window is half open people tend to put their arm over the glass and push down thus putting force on the weak spot causing it to fail. The designe is simply wrong!

Okay so today while i was driving the car the passenger window was falling. I pulled over to lift it back into place and the window actually came out of the door. So once I got home to put the glass back in, I found that the regulator cable on the top right had failed. I guess I'll be looking for a new one this week.
