E82 / E87 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by a naturaly aspirated inline 6 in the 128 or the turbo twin power inline 6 rocket sled 135.

Bmw anti trap function HELP

Hi guys new here, so the other day I was using my car as normal then I parked up for the night and didn't use the car until the next day in the evening. Well due to temperatures getting sub-zero at night my pillar less Windows froze over. I'm used to this as it's happened a few times but with the car on they just defrost themselves. But this time the drivers window wasn't just frozen over as I opened the door and therefore it activated the anti trap function. This means that my window is stuck in the position its in and won't roll up or down at all but when you click the buttons you can hear the electrics clicking just no movement and the little icon of the Window and an explanation Mark.
1. Would opening the door card and manually winding down the window fix it?
2. Is there a fuse I can check?
3. Can I disconnect the anti trap function sensor to hard reset? If so where can I find it?
4. Any suggestions are helpful!!!

Thanks in advance!

My experience is that a stuck mechanism won't blow the fuse.

Anti trap function is measuring the current draw of the electric motor. That's how it knows it's stuck. So right now the mechanism is stuck but I don't know the reason.
If you want to take it apart, go ahead, remove the motor from the window regulator, keep the wires attached and see if it works.
Difficulty with opening the door card is that there is a vapor barrier which you have to make sure seals perfectly when assembling otherwise you will have a wet carpet whenever it rains.

What would be the best process of fixing this situation if it was up to you ?

I have diag software so I would check the error messages what it is about.

Then after I made sure the glass is not stuck I would reset it (with disconnecting battery or by software) and try to operate it.

If it still doesn't work, I would take apart the door.

If you don't have the software, you could start taking apart the door, but do not detouch the bottom part of the vapor barrier. That's the most difficult to seal.
