This idea has been kicked around in the Climb to the Clouds 4 thread but in order to get proper attention it deserves a thread of its own.
After the sucess of Climb to the Clouds 4 we are seriously considering a Fall Foliage run in Western New England

This will be a two day event (Saturday and Sunday) and some may want to arrive Friday night,
The Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville, Ct. is reserving a block of rooms until the end of August. We will be able to book one or two nights. Alternately rooms can be booked at the Iron Masters Inn which is a motel down the road. A bit less elegant but also slightly less expensive. Both placed serve complimentary breakfast, Friday night dinner will be at the Boathouse Restaraurt in Lakeville which is a 5 minute drive from either loction.
Saturday morning arter breakfast we will drive to Lime Rock and meet in the Sunoco Paddock at Lime Rock which will be reseverved for us. We will stop by the Lime Rock Club Clubhouse and then head down to Michelin Tower (the timing tower). We will raffle off Hot Laps with one of the Club Instructors in the Clubs M3. We will then have a brief tour of the track. Lunch will be at the Lime Rock Cafe (which is nothing fancy - burgers, sandwiches, etc.), We will then head out for a drive on some of the areas scenic roads, stop for a picture taking opportunity at "Captain Audio's Driveway" (Housatonic Meadows State Park) and contintue on to the Falls Village Inn for dinner, The Falls Village Inn is going to prepare a Prix Fixe menu with several menu choices and we will have our own private room.
Sunday morning after breakfast we will head to Winsted CT. (we will pick some scenic road) for a private tour of The American Mural Project and then we will all head home.

They are holding a block of rooms under "Bimmerfest" until the end of August.
Sounds like you guys will be up in my neighborhood. I will probably be traveling that week but if I am around I would like to participate in at least some of the activities.
This is starting to come together. I spoke to Ellen Ellen Griesedieck (Sam Posey's wife) and she will open up the mill in Winsted for us on Sunday and give us a special tour of the Wall of America in the mill building in Winsted.
This is not something you will want to miss. I took this photo in Ellen's studio last March and you can get an idea of the scale and the quality of the artwork that is going into this project.
I am working on the other details and could use some help planning the route etc. PM me if you would like to attend or to help put the event together.
Don't you all jump in at once...seriously, where's everyone? Is it so difficult to commit to a scenic weekend of enjoying your ultimate driving machines?
I am definitely interested as well, but I won't be able to commit until a few weeks before as I'm waiting on something. I live locally so I wouldn't necessarily need a place to stay and such.
It will be a different kind of experience, driving on local roads and a chance to meet some of the local festers. Have fun in Europe, travel safely and come prepared to share a TON of pictures and stories with the group!
The Wake Robin Inn will forego their two night weekend minimum and when I get an idea of how many people plan to stay Friday, Saturday, or both nights I can negotiate a deal with them.
I also need to have an idea how many will be attending dinner Saturday night and how many plan to go to the American Mural Project on Sunday,

We will be there for both Friday and Saturday nights. I'm not sure if we will be there in time for dinner on Friday, but we will be there for dinner on Saturday. And, if I had to bet, I think Diane would spike my tires if I tried to avoid the mural, so I'm guessing we'll be there for that as well.
Captain I love to make it however it is contingent on three things right now. I will not have my work travel schedule finalized until mid September, will need to see if Ms Windsor is free from Kids activities and most important hopefully I will have the 335i, otherwise coming up in the X5 kind of defeats the purpose although its very doable.
In other words I can't give thumps up or down until mid to late September.

Hey guys,
I'm new to the scene and just took a look at this. My wife and I might be up for a day trip on Saturday. Would like to meet some of the knowledge behind this board.
Since I'll be driving in locally from my home in Fairfield County - I'm going to likely do whatever the biggest day is, Saturday? Stay for dinner, then come back home.
So if Saturday is the big itinerary day, sign me up.
Met with Mr. and Mrs. Bemo at Lime Rock yesterday to go over the details of the trip and check out some of the placed we will be visiting,
These are the preliminary plans and details wiil be posted shortly.

I've scanned and posted the menus of the BoatHouse, Fall Village Inn, as well as additional contact information.
The Captain, EdCT, and I will be reviewing potential driving routes for the event. Let us know if you have any suggestions. Those with the most advanced radar detectors shall lead the column!
The Falls Village Inn will give us a Prix Fixe dinner with several menu choices (meat, poultry, fish, veggie, etc,)
The only requirment is that we will have to make our individual choices in advance.
Captain - Zooks is confirmed so remove the asterisk from his name. Also texted back and forth with lqaddict and he'll be chiming in this weekend, still confirmed so far....
I have attached some pics from our first scouting mission, to keep the thread alive
As far as I'm concerned, if it's just you and us, we'll still go through with the plan. At that point, I'll raffle and certainly win the hot laps in the M3!
All kdding aside, who do we bribe so I can get at least 1 hot lap??? I want to come out of that car, shaking and glad to be alive! :yikes:
