I recently traded in my 2001 540iA Black on Black ...on a 2012 535iX with M Package, Executive Package, Tech Package and HUD.
It is a nice car and a totally different ride then my 540iA with M Package.
The 2012 is Alpine White with Black interior, I have had the car for about a month and notice that a lot of mud kicks back onto the doors and rear fender.
I am considering mud flaps but am worried about the looks!
Has any one installed the BMW Mud Flaps for this model and if so what do they look like on the car?
Are there any other solutions??.... Maybe aftermarket flaps that would look like part of the fender perhaps in the same body color?
Welcome to the 'fest.
Just my opinion. But I think that the mud flaps would ruin the looks of the f10, especially black flaps on Alpine White. It would really stick out. But different strokes for different folks so...if you like it, do it and enjoy your clean car.
Also, if you do decide to, I'd recommend sticking with OEM as the fit and finish would be better than aftermarket.
I just received an e-mail from my dealer that says the mud flaps may be a problem if you have the M package, which I do.
They said there may have to be some modifications... not sure about that.
Are the fenders on a 5 Series the same regardless if you have a M package or not?
If the fenders are the same then I do not understand what the M package has to do with it.
I have had some replies about these flaps and have seen two cars with the flaps installed and both have the M wheels one is a 2011 535ix and the other is a 550.
These are the part numbers
BMW Mud Flaps / Front
82162155858
BMW Mud Flaps / Rear
82162155857
I have attached the pictures of the 550... looks like they have the M package.
No. The regular ones fit the msport. The wheel well shape is identical between the two versions. The msport rocker panel flares differently but directly behind the front and rear wheels is the exact same. I went through the same hassle with the parts department saying they don't have the mud flaps for the ms port. BMW just never added the msport to the parts list.
i have a white over black 2012 535 m sport
i purchased the guards from a bmw dealer online who had the best price.
my bmw service dept installed them at no charge as a courtesy for them giving me poor service on the car that was in for something else.
they fit with no problem, and i like the way they look.
just make sure you get genuiune bmw parts.
front and rear are differant sizes , part numbers and price.
Please see attached instruction. The rear is a little tricky since the pictures are not very clear. Make sure you trim the burrs around the flap corners for clean fit.
Thanks a lot. Yes, you are right. I was able to install the front ones (that should be the least i must get done..lol), but I'm not following rear instructions. I'm still not clear how to attach the additional 2 pieces that should go along with both right and left rear flaps.
I hear you. It took me a while to figured it out. It is hard to explain in words. The key is to make sure the part D x2 are on top of the C's opening and the heat shield has to be "bent/fold" at the bottom to fit in and aligned. Give it a try, if you still can't do it then I can probably take a picture of mine and send it to you. By the way, I did not use the 6 cylinder instruction. Mine is V8.
The driver1 and passenger1 were taken from the rear
The driver2 and passenge2 were taken from the wheel well opening. Its dirty but you should get an idea.
The bulging part is the part D which is on top of the flap opening and you can also see the alum heat shield where the lip of the D is behind the heat shield
Great, highly appreciate your efforts and help. It is freezing here as well and i can't even stay for a minute in my garage. I'm going to wait for a day or two to fix it.
With a little effort and following the pdf, you can easily install. I could install all four as per the instructions in around 3 hours. It could have been much faster if i had taken the tires out. But i did it without taking tires out.
Got the front ones on in about an hour. I think the first one took 50 minutes and the second one took 10 minutes. Spent way too much time looking for a 5 mm drill bit.
Probably won't tackle the rear until Thursday, but will most likely pull the rear wheels. Looks a bit tight otherwise.
For now I am OK with the look. Personally I like the contrast as mine is Alpine White.
