As I mentioned before, I had a minor faux pas with my oil filter cap that's been resolved but now I have another situation. I had oil all over my engine so I degreased it and now the alternator sounds off- like a dry bearing. Is there any way to lubricate it before the bearings are ruined and I have to replace it?
Pull the belt and spin the alternator to see if that's really your problem. It could be your tensioner or idler pulley making the noise.
Find the failed part and replace it. The pulleys are not servicable and the alternator isn't something I recommend rebuilding yourself unless you are particularly skilled in that area.
