found that i have 2 little dents in the radiator today. coolant leeks from there. the holes/dents are where the fan blade is. so my question is.. any way to temporary fix that problem? i be steaming on red lights nd coolant leeking( not too bad, but constantly) or do i need a new radiator?
it wasnt the fan that hit the radiator it was my mistake cause i left some tools under the hood i was just saying that it was where the fan is at to give you guys a better picture of where the dents were located at.
not that many times. see, from time to time i have to add coolant cause it escapes through my heater core so last night i was gonna add some since temp started going up to the 3rd line on red lights nd i forgot some tools under the hood. there was these cutting tools that got caught in the fan and poked 2 holes in the radiator. luckily fan blade is in one piece. but for the next 10 minutes of driving i doubt that my fan was spinning. leak isnt that bad it just steams all crazy when im in traffic thats the annoying part. but dam.. i thought i could get away without replacing the radiator since i just replaced it a month ago :/
One time is too many times, especially with these engines. If you have overheated your engine multiple times, you almost certainly have warped your head and will soon discover that you have a failed head gasket (aka: time for a new engine).
Do you know how to check for symptoms of a failed of failing head gasket? Have you performed a cylinder compression test? If not, you better have one performed ASAP. Even one "mild" overheating will kill the head gasket on these cars. You can kill the engine even if the temp needle never reaches the red, so the fact that your car has been there a lot of times is a very bad sign.
ill get on that. thanks. idk my oil dont look like milk or w.e nd i dont physically see it leaking anywhere. and it doesnt overheat on daily basis, i know for a fact that i have a leak in the heatercore, thats why from time to time i add coolant
I never had milky oil ether, a little carbon and or fuel smell in the coolant. I bought it that way not knowing about these motors, drove it around for a year put a lot of miles on it hoping it would make it to spring time. No such luck, if you look for my post another head job you will see what happens when you neglect a problem like that. I had a cracked head the whole time. It overheated a few times right after i bought it and now I have a dead car that needs a new motor....FIX IT VERY VERY SOON!!!!!!
You can have the radiator fixed if you take it to someone that knows what there doing but sometimes the seal on the tanks lose there seal and start leaking from there. Make sure they re crimp the the tabs for tank good and tight.
Yes, I do know it's from a supra, but why not buy a supra for drifting?
I would assume that there is a lot of work involved in swapping into a 1jz/2jz, it'd be easier to buy a supra.
Says the guy who left tools in his engine bay, destroyed his brand new radiator, wondered if it could be fixed, and overheated his engine multiple times...

Get ready for another blown head gasket if you throw a toyota supra engine in there, but I doubt you really will put one in an e36 chassis...IMO Supras go threw head gaskets like oil changes
Well.i think it would b cheaper to do a supra swap which would b like 6k instead of gettin a supra for 25k nd drifting on it. Nd yea my mistake for leaving tools under my.hood. I was in a rush nd it was dark as fk outside nd its not like all of you have never made a dumb mistake in your lifetime
i find this pretty crazy and thats somethin i would wanna do to my car
