My question: Do i need to dismantle the trims out from the body to wrap? Which one is recommended? Dismantle the trims from the body to wrap or just wrap it without dismantle?
The door and bumper trims are easy to dismantle, but the window chrome trims seem like hard to remove..
I used the blackout tape that they sell on e bay it looks nice it adapts to curves , i didn't even have to pull the window trims out, but one big problem was after a few months under the weather, that thing would shrink and become brittle and would just fall apart.
i found this film , its called high performance film they use it for making high end sticker for cars, you dong have to remove your trims. get a poster board or any large brown paper bag, cut it open , then tape it to your cars window and then follow through with your finger to get the contour of the trim and cut it carefully with a sharp razor, now you have a template for your window trim ,you only need one side for the template use the same template for the other side ,just flip it over.
now if you have this film, lay it out and put template on top and trace and cut , make sure to leave some allowance for adjustment when installing
or you can find it on ebay pre cut for around $50. not guranteed if its the same material that i'm talking about . i did mine for over a year now and it still looks great. check your local graphic shop for the film paid fifty bucks for mine but its enough to do 4 or 5 cars so ialso used it for the chrome trims on the interior.
I've used some tape I got on Amazon. I did not take the trims off(I only did the doors) and just simply pushed the edges underneath with my fingernail(which hurt after a while). The tape I got has been through two summers and two winters and is fine. I think it was trimbrite brand, but I'm not certain on that.
they are near the Harley Davidson dealer, just a few blocks away from the highway.
if you call let me know what they tell you.
