Hello all,
I've never taken part in a track day before, and It is something that I would like to get in to this spring. I guess I'm just looking for input from other members with experience. I'm located in Madison, WI. Any input or suggestions for track events coming up this spring would be appreciated.
I don't have access to a dedicated track car. I would be using my daily driver, a 2002 540i M-sport 6 speed. The car is essentially stock. It has stoptech pads/rotors, and a set of what should be reasonable track tires on staggered 18"s. I know these aren't great track cars (size/weight), but I think it should be ok for at least my first few events.
My questions:
What are the good track events coiming up in the midwest this summer?
what do I need to do to the car to make it track-worthy? (I'm up to date on all maintenance. cooling, bushings, etc.)
What should I expect? (passing/being passed, mechanical breakdowns, learning curve, etc)
What equipment do i need, and where can i get it?
Thanks!
