Hey Guys,
Been following this forum for sometime ever since we decided to purchase a new X5. It has been an invaluable resource through this entire process! All of you that contribute to the gain and transfer of knowledge and experience should be commended!
Well, heard today that she just went into production! Here are the details.
2013 X5 50i
Deep Sea Blue
Black Nevada (for the kids... 3 year old and 9 year old...nuff said)
Sport Activity Package
- Multi-Contour Seats
- Adaptive Drive
Premium Sound
Premium Package 2
Multi-Contour seats
Toughest part was figuring out if I really NEEDED adaptive drive. Well...I NEED it.
Some notes:
Wheels: I would have loved to go with the 20" wheels (style 336 I think) but with trips to the snow the 19s out of the sport package seemed more practical at the moment.
3rd row seating: The 3rd row seat...yes..if it were up to me I would have NOT added it but the wife does a lot of car pooling with kids (age 4-9) so it was a must. No cajoling from me could change her mind. Since she is the primary driver...she wins.
Adaptive Drive: I did a ton of research on this. Everything from board member opinions to how the system works to driving one vs. one without. For me, I love the sportiness of the X5 with adaptive drive. It isn't for everyone but for me, it really changed the attitude of the car. Midnight ice cream runs are going to have me and my wife fighting for the keys! Before it was a rock paper scissors thing...
Technology Package: Just wasn't worth it to us. The HUD is nice but for whatever reason, with sunglasses we were using (not sure if they were polarized) you could barely make it out. Changing the settings on the idrive to high didn't help. As soon as you put sunglasses on the HUD was washed out. Night time driving I'm sure would be useful. We nixed it. Money went to the dang 3rd row seating...lol
50i vs 35i vs Diesel:
For us, the 50i was hands down the best. No offfense to the other power plants as they are ALL sexy sweet but something about that V8 just stole the show. Torque, power, sound...in my opinion, worth the extra cash if it is within your budget. If budget is not there...there is no disappointment with the 35i or the diesel. They are both awesome engines.
So here we sit!
Rest assured...obligatory cold start video and pics WILL BE INCOMING once we get her home!
