I don’t understand the graph on the “Track My” car page on bmwusa. Several questions:
(a) The captions for the first three blocks are: On order, Schedule for Production, Awaiting Transport. So it goes from being scheduled for production to awaiting transport–No wonder the J.D. Powers Quality ratings are so low: It’s never built. Just scheduled for production and then awaiting transport. Seriously, this doesn’t make sense to me. Can someone explain?
(b) I don’t understand what the numbers on top of the graph-blocks mean. Do these just have ordinal properties or are they weeks or something. (Of course, I’m ignoring the obvious question of why the numbers above the blocks are “01,” “02,” etc. rather than “1,’ ‘2,” etc. for fear there are mathematicians lurking.)
(c) What’s a Preparation Center. Are these just a relatively few regional operations that specialize in–well–preparing cars from the factory that then go to the dealer for a minor touch-up (e.g. wash)? If not, what?
Thanks in advance to smarter people than I.
