Today I changed my transmission fluid (Royal Purple Syncromax) and differential fluid (Royal Purple Gear-Max 75W90). :supdude:
And if I have time after work on Friday, I'll be swapping out my nasty old lower control arm bushings with THESE, and then go on the Hurricane Ridge tour with the BMWCCA PSR on Saturday.
Now she's sitting in my yard. Meet Katja........ 1985 635CSi, 5spd, 75,391 miles. Hasn't been driven in two+ years, but was a daily driver up until the owner ruined his left knee and couldn't use a clutch any more. $600.
She's ragged inside. Years of no maintenance to the leather and the South Alabama sun beating down on her cooked the interior. Seams split, plastic cracked. Look at the cell phone..... now look at the CORD going to the cell phone! :bustingup
I'm going to get her off the trailer tomorrow and try cranking her. Fresh gas, hot battery. Cross your fingers and wish me luck. Although it wasn't being driven, it was being cranked up every few weeks until about a year ago.
She's not an E36, but here's where all my friends are, so I posted the shots where y'all could see them in familiar territory. I'm going to post them in the E24 forum, too.

It might be a good idea to pull the spark plugs out and shoot some oil, or penetrating oil, into the cylinders and let it soak for a couple hours before you try to fire it up. A year of sitting can cause the rings to rust and stick to the the cylinder walls.
Ken, very nice! I'm a huge fan of the old 6ers. Can't wait to see the progress.
On another note... Guess what was on my doorstep when I got home from work today?
Yep, those are BimmerWorld TrackCABs. I also ordered THESE today, and will hopefully be installing everything next weekend. I expect the handling of my car to really wake up in the next few weeks...
Those redesigned RTABs look pretty good. I like the grease relief and the fact that they are now silicone impregnated. I had a set of the original Rouge Polyurethane RTABs on our 328 and the were just too harsh and squeaky for street use. I had to pull them off and replace them with M3 RTABs.
Nice, took us a couple of hours to do all the wiring and soldering etc. But now I can sleep at night, knowing the car is somewhat protected
