The response to the 1Yr + ownership of F10s was fantastic. Now the promised follow on poll, like the first it for those who have had their F10s at least a year.
Yup, still finagling ways to go for a drive.
When I got my 335i, I immediately started to ignore the F10. After a while I convinced myself it was, too big, no steering feel, slow, not that fun to drive. After a few months now, whenever I get back into the F10, it feels like much more of polished machine. Little things stand out, like the angle of the idrive controller, the tilt of the navigation screen and it's seamless integration onto the dash. Also ditching the runflats has made me re-appreciate how hard it was to balance comfort and sport in a car like this. I often ask myself if I could only keep 1 car which would it be. I have to say it's the 535i...for now.
Well, not as good a response as the first poll but, it shows that probably most of us think of the F10 not so much as a mistress (short term fun) but more as an engaging lover for the long term. Be interesting to hear what allegory/analysis PsychDoc1 has about this.
Mine's not quite 3 months old but I must say that I can't get enough of this car. I did just the opposite of TJPark01. I had a 2011 335i M-Sport with the level 1 Performance upgrade. I loved that car and it was oh so much fun to drive but it lacked the refinement of the 535.
I was having a lot of fun with it and then it went into the shop for several days and they gave me a F10 loaner. At first it felt disconnected and sluggish but then after I got to know it a little better it started growing on me. By the time the 335 was ready I wasn’t quite sure I wanted to give the F10 back to them.
Interestingly my son bought the 335 from me and has been having a ball with it but earlier this week it had to go into the shop and they gave him a new 535 loaner. He has a wife and three kids and he said he fell in love with the nice big F10 as well. He still loves the 335 but in a year or so he’ll have a decision to make. I think it goes to prove that it’s hard NOT to love a BMW period, any BMW for that matter. Yesterday I had something large to haul home from the office so I drove my wife’s 2007 X3. With 43,000 miles on it it’s still as fun to drive as it was the day it came off the boat.
This is my 9th BMW and although there have been a few issues now and then I can’t see me trying anything else again. I tried a Lexus and an Infiniti and I’d rather have a Ford than any of those again. Actually I’d probably rather have a 20 year old F10 or E90 than anything else if I came to that.
