My car greeted me this morning with the warning that Vehicle check service is past due "since 01/2000"! Yesterday, it showed, correctly I think, that Vehicle check is due 6/2015. I'm taking the car in tomorrow to have this looked at. My car does seem to know the correct date and time. My concern is that, just as on a computer motherboard with a dead CMOS battery or CMOS reset, something lost power or was reset and an internal clock reset to base time zero. Has anyone seen this in their car?
I got it to reset correctly. Unlocking the secret menu code is actually adding up the last 5 digits of the vin; not 7.
It must be what the dealers do. Hope the new software from CCP will address this issue or else, one will have to do this on a regular basis when this silliness comes up.
Mine is back in for the 7th time. Removing Dinan Stage 1 to see if that's part of it. (dealer installed)
Is there any kind of Class Action or recourse on this... It's a bit ridiculous. $100k car and spending way too much time in a 3 series loaner. I'd be interested on feedback regarding some sort of good-will effort from BMW NA.
We just purchased a used 7 series, that came up with the service do since 1/2000 on our way home. We have a chance to back out of this specific vehicle, have any of you had a successful fix for this. Or should we run!?
Yup, the "official" bulletin fix does indeed or has solved the issue. My reoccurring issue came from the addition of a Dina Stage 1 tune, had to remove the Dinan, but NO MORE service due issues. I would email the dealer just to have something in writing, but I would lose too much sleep over it.
Got service due since 01/2000 message and took it to dealership yesterday. He said software update will fix, but it's not covered under CPO. Did anyone manage to get it free under CPO warranty?
That seems like a strange think for which nickle and dime a customers. It just involves connecting a car to PSU and practically and automated procedure.
This just happened to my '12 528xi after oil service. Brought back to dealer and now it says that next service is due 06/2016 or 9000 miles. Brought this to SA attention and he told me that it is because I do not drive enough miles (wtf?). Please explain the fix to me so that I am able to explain it to my SA. Is there a TSB that BMW has issued for this fix? I'm still under CPO warranty until late 05/2018 but original warranty goes out this May. Thank you.
After an oil change reset I got the time warp message.
Went into he hidden menu as desribed in this thread.
Did the software reset.
Vehicle check due went from 01 2000 to somewhere in 2020 and 60k kms.
All seems fine.
I just experienced the service due since 1/2000 for the second time. 2011 528 with 82k miles. Took it to dealer who charged be $200 for software update. Before update, it was 3,600 miles until front brake pads were due. And 47,000 miles until rear brakes. After update, front brakes moved to 13,000 and rear brakes moved to 14,000 miles. Seems so crazy. I have no faith in the computer to determine service intervals at all.
Happened to me too about one month ago, couple weeks after CPO expired
Got time today to reset "vehicle check" interval through Rheingold and seems fine for now. Anyone had any luck resetting this way?
Note: when doing this, it is mandatory to reset the "oil service" interval before "vehicle check" - Rheingold states that.
Hello. This may already be included in the previous posts. But to be sure and clear, I***8217;m including a link to the service bulletin, here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2014/MC-10148333-9999.pdf
Easy, do it yourself fix. The procedure does not mention one necessary step: ***8220;unlock***8221; the cluster with the sum of your last five VIN numbers. Then scroll to item 25***8211; reset. Then follow directions, namely entering the date and time in iDrive settings. Done. Fixed. Good luck.
