Not to be snarky, just too many on the road in my neck of the woods, especially when driving near the office. A colleague was up from FL and we were waiting for my car at the garage in and she goes " Y'all drive nothing but BMW's?" since the 4 cars that were leaving before me were all BMW's. I just laughed since someone on a visit had said the same about German cars overall.
I usually get some extra courtesy from another BMW when I try to cut in and I do the same for other BMW drivers as well. Meanwhile, every other car on the road try to cut me off and race me. I guess beating a BMW to the next red light is an accomplishment for them
Guess this was what I was eluding to. No, I don't honk and deliver a thumbs up (or finger) or every F10 driver but every once in a while it's nice to see a enthusiast, like there's a certain mutual respect.
There are a ton BMWs in the city but I haven't seen more than a handful of F10s with Msport. The first time I really appreciate the beauty of an F10 was a black 550 slow-rolling it down the street on a sunny day.
I've noticed that guys in "special"
Bmws like M cars or vintage cars will check out my car. Not that it's anything special - I do the same thing as a car guy. Will check out a base 320 without thinking about it
As I sat in traffic during my morning commute this morning, there was 4 BMW within my line of sight. There are so many BMW in my area that if I acknowledge everyone of them, I will get Carpal tunnel syndrome.
All the 5 series owners around my area are older women and older gentlemen, mostly snow birds, rare occasion i see a Msport and its a 30~ old person. I do look at them, because its a beautiful car, but not gonna acknowledge them.
We have too many bimmers around here, so acknowledging every I meet on my way means I have to show gestures, flash lights and honk a horn just all the time I do the driving. I'm afraid they'll put me in the madhouse for doing that.
But I've noticed that bimmer driver will always let me cut in front of him in heavy traffic and more willing to have a race on a highway. That doesn't work with the Mercedes drivers for some reason...
I usually look over, but as others mentioned, most F10 drivers aren't enthusiasts unfortunately. Whenever I see a slightly modded or M sport F10, I'm always curious to see who's driving. There was this one guy so fascinated with my car, that he bought the same exact one...
Ha! This is too funny. I acknowledge other F10s on the road from time to time...the F10 is a very attractive car and I find myself forgetting that I have one lol.
I only honk at women in BMW , any BMW - I associate owning a BMW with brains , I need a women with brains and not how to relieve me of more cash , take what I have and make more - I do not care how she makes
more , as long as she makes more .
Way too many to acknowledge in what are pretty normal cars around here. I'd imagine if I had an M there would be a certain amount of respect among other M owners.
I get quite a lot of looks from not only F10/BMW drivers but cars of all kinds. A couple months ago, an acquaintance I hadn't seen saw my new car and took his eyes off the road looking at my car and drove into the person in front of him. *shake my head*
Then again, I drive a heavily modified 550 black on black 550.
I don't pay much attention to them on the road since I drive in bumper to bumper traffic a lot. I find myself walking over to them in a parking and giving them a once over. I like most of the BMWs from the 2002 series to the new 650ci (one of my favorites).
Just after a day of buying my 5 series..I was driving on the road..and another 5 series dude acknowledged me by smiling and nodding...without realizing that he was simply trying to be polite...I gave him the weirdest confused look and drove away...later on when I realized..I felt horrible..I just didn't know this was even a thing...
I'm usually being extra courteous to other bimmer drivers. Giving the way if they're trying to cut into traffic, etc. I'd not stare at their faces, smile/nod though. That's weird. However if I'm on a free way or a long road trip and see another bimmer around 5 or M5, I tail with them and usually people like that. Sometimes other bimmers tail me throughout the traffic too. Like they don't let another car get between us haha...
