alarm

I have been having trouble keeping my battery charged. I had the battery checked out, and is ok, but discovered there is a heavy electrical power draw coming from my alarm horn. I found this when I disconnected the battery neg. terminal, it sparked and a loud clicking sounded from inside the right rear wheel well. The horn doesn`t actuaqlly sound. It`s more like it is trying to work and is bound up.My question is: Can I disable the horn? if so, how should I do it?

Am I am I missing something, I started a thread on my ALARM system malfunction, but can`t find any replies to it. Am I looking in the wrong place? Maybe I am saying it wrong. It`s about the alarm horn causing a huge electrical draw down on my battery I want to fix it so I don`t have to unhook the battery every night, but I don`t know what to do.

More details about your e38 would help us help you better. Not all e38s are equipped the same from 1995-2001...and the alarm siren is one of those things that changed.

Consider creating a signature (click the USER CP link at top of page) that has your e38s model/model year/build date...again, this will go a long way in helping us to help you better.

I ;don`t know what more I can tell you, except maybe that it is a 95, 740i. I don`t care about the alarm, I just want to keep from jump starting it all the time. I would think that because of the power it is pulling that it must have a relay somewhere. I just want to take it off line forever. Thank you for your response. The Buckster

Pull the wires off the horn and insulate them.

Thank you: I had hoped that that is all I have to do. Is there a relay r fuse that controls the horn? I will be getting at it today.

Probably. It depends if you are talking about a factory part of the car or some after market unit.

I have no aftermarket stuff on thiis car. It`s all factory. I disarmed the alarm horn today, and the clicking went away, but I am still getting sparks from the neg terminal. I tried to run a circuit test with a test light, but found nothing. However, I could not get at the fuses under the seat. I am waiting to see how far the battery goes down tonight. I don`t have a clue what to do next with out spending a ton of money.
