Trying to drop the oil pan on my m50. Ive gotten every single bolt except the 2 behind the bellhousing between the transmission. Theyre pressed up against something and i cant get a socket to fit around them. I attached a crappy photo. If anyone has an idea or has had to deal with this before and can help me out. Thanks
It's not the recess, the flat of the head of the bolt is against the rust brown metal piece to the right of the photo. I'm trying to figure out which bolt that actually is. If you can't get a socket on it to loosen it, you couldn't get one on it to tighten it which makes me think something else has to come loose first?
Oh, I see now... I think that would have to be the flywheel/ torque converter. Try cranking the engine just a bit (as long as there's still oil in there). If there isn't oil, turn it by hand with a breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley.
Oil is already drained, ill try cranking it by hand tomorrow. If thats the edge of the flywheel it cant be good that the oil pan is pressed up against it right?
I did this job a couple of days ago and didnt have that problem.
I applied rtv to the places where the block meets with the bell and cover.
So far no leak!!
Oil pan is finally off!!! I think one of the previous owners had to have hit something to knock the oil pan back. The new one should go in much easier.
Nevermind, figured it out. Just looked at the bottom of the block, it's kinda obvious
