I decided to acquire the very expensive, but very useful, BMW tool (312240) to pop out control arms and tie rods on my E39 without destroying them or swearing up a storm.

Here a picture of it:

If anyone ever needs this tooland lives around DC, just let me know. I will gladly lend it, in exchange for a very small fee :p The tool is meant for E39, E38, E52 and E53. Don't know if other models can benefit from it also.

Jason, I was following the thread you referenced above (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=300760&page=2), and was wondering if you ever got a chance to use the Harbor Freight tool and what you thought of it.
I remember someone else using it and had to place it a certain way or something.
I also bought tool from HF and trying to gather enough knowledge and guts to tackle the job of replacing all front suspension components.
