There is a brake sensor wire on the front left and right rear wheels. Usually what happens is as the pads wear down it grinds through the wire and the light turns on solid. A loose connection or low fluid could cause the light to come on intermittently.
Or, if reading it differently...
The brake lights sometimes don't make a good connection (worn contacts or corrosion) and the LCM thinks your bulbs are dead. It's just a matter of taking the bulbs out and cleaning everything up and making sure there is good contact when you put them back in.
