Aftermarket Alarm in F30 w/o Factory Alarm

Hey guys,

I just picked up a 328d w/o the Factory Alarm. I'm considering a Compustar 2-way alarm that can control door locks and trunk. I'll take remote start if possible, but not going to lose any sleep over it if not. I do not have the convenience package either if that makes a difference.

How friendly are these cars to have an aftermarket alarm installed?

Thanks,

hey why not add-on the factory alarm? I did that to our X3 few years ago (dealer installed it, already pre-wired I think... even the blinking light/LED under the center mirror is prewired too I think).

Yeah, long conversation with the dealer about this and BMW is no longer pre wiring for alarms. If you want one, or you think you might want one, you'll need to buy one with an alarm. A hard lesson learned, but now we know.

Ok my bad - no prewiring I guess.
It actually might be a mixed blessing - the factory alarm is kind of wimpy and the aftermarket ones probably can scream loudly.
(Ask/check for insurance discount if it has an alarm installed.)
