Does anyone know if it is possible to silence the front seat belt alarms? Maybe there is a fuse I can pull out? I use my seat belt every time I get into my car and I don't need an alarm to remind me. My older bimmers didn't have the alarm. Not that big of a deal but thought I'd ask...
Not that I know of, but it does give a little bit before it starts beeping. I don't think it's warned me more than 2-3 times in the last 3 years. If you put on your seat belt before you drive away, that may solve your problem.

Nothing for nothing but put the seatbelt on. Think of it as someone who loves you saying, "Put the belt on and stop thinking of a way of shutting us up". You'll save money on tickets too...
You're gonna get flamed for asking this question, a member asked this on 5series.net and got flamed when the nannies came out. I just feel like you should be able to turn it off just like the parking sensors with the push of a button which means, "yea I heard you", the other day, as I approached my friends house, I took off my seat belt while driving down his block and pulled up at his house, and put the car in park, too late, the chime had started and I had to wait like what felt like forever for it to stop, and I was on a call, yea I could have just put the belt back in and took it out again, still annoying tho.....
Check the trunk and glovebox for the fuses. Im not exactly sure where they are in the E60 but thats where they are in my E39. Just pull it and you should be good, I hate those seatbelt alarms..
I think its funny when I tell my stepson if you dont put the belt on the chime gets louder and louder. And he's like "Yea I can tell" such a naive young boy. LOL
I'm sure my posts for some will be "old", but for me they are new and unknown, that's why I ask. A simple answer is just as easy as an opinion, and for this post, an answer is what I am looking for. Thanks for your comments fellow enthusiasts... looking forward to more. And thank you mookish for the heads up about gettin flamed, I'm new to forums and didn't realize they were some flamers out there.. watch out!
So after waking up one morning I decided to eliminate some minor problems I have been having with my car. One of them was sometimes while driving, the seat belt warning chime would go off, signaling that the passenger needs to buckle their seat belt when infact there was no one sitting in the seat.
I would usually crank my radio up until the 1 minute passed where the chiming would stop, or I would hit the seat so that whatever was being pressed would depress which worked 70% of the time and which also had a 70% chance for me to hurt my hand.
So today I took out the four screws that were holding down the seat, and then I turned the seat sideways to look at the seatbelt latch. There I saw a cord running up to the latch (latch= where the seat belt clicks into).
I simply cut the red & black wires and twist them together. Voila! Problem solved!
Couple months ago I was reading on how to solve the issue, someone recommended taking the fuse out of the glove compartment. I went against doing this because if someone was actually sitting in the passenger seat and (GOD FORBID) I got in an accident, the Airbags wouldn't deploy.
So simply cutting the wires and twisting them together indicates that the seat belt is latched. Now if I meet in an accident and the my lucky passenger decided against putting on their seatbelt, well that would all be on them.
This was my first $0.02 cents on the forum so yay me!
