I've been doing some research online to see about a hitch for my 2013 X3. It looks like you can get a Curt 2012 and wiring for a fraction of the cost of BMW installed hitches/wiring.
I've done 4 previous installations on Mazda and Lexus vehicles that required quite a bit of work (fishing bolts through tubes, cutting etc.) so I feel I'm capable of doing the install to save a bit.
However. I can't get anyone to commit that the 2012 items will work with the 2013 model. (thought one local hitch installer offered to do the hitch only for $500 installed, no wiring)
I don't tow heavy trailers so don't really need the enhancements that BMW is talking about.. in fact I really mostly use it to hold a bike rack, and I have a really small flatbed trailer I use maybe 3 times a year at most.
Thoughts?
