I was waiting for a red light, got hit by a 18 years old. Though the damage is minor, it still tears my heart apart. Now I just hope the insurance and the repair process won't take super long.
LUCKY. The repair process is going to be quick! Accident was on Friday, I filed the claim to the other party's insurance. Today ( monday) the agent contacted me and without any problem agreed to cover everything. I went to the assigned shop, and they told me the parts are available for ordering, and my X3 will be ready on Thursday! Car rental company picked me up, and they gave me a Chrysler convertible  ( first time driving a convertible, exciting!)
The other party is insured by USAA, which now I think is very professional and efficient. They will also send me a form for applying compensation for diminished value by the accident ( something you need to ask for otherwise they won't mention)
Thanks for the tip on Diminished Value. I'll be tucking that one away for future reference too. It's likely excluded on my policy. but if there's someone else at fault then I may find value there.
Glad you were not hurt and can tell us about the accident. The vehicle did its job and prevented a more serious accident. A vehicle can always be replaced and walked away unhurt. The money spent on the X3 has proven to perform as expected.
Hmm. Wonder if I can file a diminished value on my 05 RX 330 when a Prius slammed into its back. About 14k of damage to my car and they almost totaled it. Thankfully no one was hurt and the car was repaired.
Picked up my X3 from the shop today. So it took four days to replace and paint the new bumper. The parts and supplies were about $1000, and labor was about $600, final bill for the insurance company after tax was $1639.51.
