The transmission bolts right up, the problem is the e-30 had an electronic speedometer that reads off the rear differential, so the e-30 transmission doesn't have the speedometer cable drive off the side of the transmission. And you can't just drop in an e-30 differential and speedometer because the subframe is different (the e-21 diff sits on top while the e-30 bolts to the bottom). You might be able to get the transmission modified but I don't know, I'm doing an m50 engine swap and I'm putting in the e-36 transmission but I'm also swapping the electrical system and making the car 5 lug as well as changing out the rear subframe and suspension, I'll let you know how it goes in a year or two (I have to build a garage first).
