I rarely ever let someone else or a machine wash my car. The other day I decided to let a local shop clean my car where it's ran through the machine first then hand dried. I should have known that it wasn't a good idea because I sat there watching them dry it off and wondering how clean there chamois were from debris and abrasives. The next day I saw a few scratches on top of the trunk!!! I wanted to scream! I have touch-up paint but honestly, sometimes it could look worse when applied then the scratch iteslf. Has anyone ever taken their car to a professional shop and have them apply the touch-up paint, and if so how much do you think they might charge?
I the scratches are bad enough to need touch up paint, they where drying it with gravel and should be paying to fix your car - I doubt it is more than some light surface scratches that some polish will take out and then a good coat of wax. All places scratch your paint, unless you are going to a high end total hand wash place that changes their towels for every car, which is expensive, so if your paying less than 75 bucks to get your car washed, you'll probably get scratches!
Really doubt its deeper than clearcoat. Like everyone says, get someone to buff it out.
