Anyone have what they paid for a new AC Compressor to be installed? Got a quote of about $2700 (which includes putting on a new belt), does this seem about right? Just curious really.
New Denso air compressor is $422 (free shipping) on AutohausAZ dot com. You may get it for similar price on other places as well.
Any mechanic should be able to replace it in 2 to 3 hours.
. The whole project can be done for under 500 bucks DIY ... That's compressor , dryer , expansion valve , oil , oring seals ,and have system charged . 2,700 bucks is a bit too much , and the dealer is even worse ...
Any DIY links for this? My wife's '05 530i just had a compressor die (at least thats what the tech thinks, hot low-side pipe, blowing hot air, low side pressure was high...).
Just had my 545i done by a very good Indy shop in Phoenix. $1500 total out the door new compressor, dryer, belt and charge. AC is nice and cold again!!
IMHO $600 to $700 by indy is a very reasonable price for compressor, receiver dryer, and recharge the system.
