Unhappy oil leak, cylinder head problem

my 2004 745 i has 104000 miles, starting leaking oil, the dealer mechanic said they found a crack in cylinder head on right, tried but could not close or seal it, and said need replac. e cylinder head for $$$$$. They denied damaging it while doing other repairs in same area
Car drives ok so long i put quart of oil every few hundred miles( initially every 600,now every 200 miles!). Any advice or thoughts why it happened and how to fix, other than replace the cylinder head for $10000 !!:

Thanks Seven11! Unfortunately I am not much of a DIYer... so if anyone knows of any good/reputable mechanics that can do the cylinder replacement in the inland empire region (SoCal)I am all ears.

Thanks again for your help!
