Flex disc bolt torque is supposed to be what? All my bolts all have 8.8 stamped on them, parts look up says there's supposedly 2 sets of 3 and they've different part numbers. Looks like 34ft/lbs for 8.8 bolts if Bentley is right...got confused caused the part list said they are m12 just confused lol

Well this isn't any good...I put the car back together and it has a horrible shake starting at about 30mph and gets worse from there...I guess the driveshaft is wobbling. What do I do now?

Yeah, I put the shaft on the final drive and bolted it up, placed bolts and nuts through front shaft to flange, preloaded bearing (pushed shaft towards transmission as far as I could and tightened center bearing. I don't know if I messed up our what. I didn't mark the drive shaft flange to transmission flange/flex disc before I pulled that apart. I don't see how that could cause that though...

Yeah the rubber center bushing/donut got pulled and replaced with a new one. The drive shaft was separated and put back together with a new center bearing/bushing support by a import service shop. I marked the 2 sections and they had did the same and it appears they put it back like it was. The guy at the shop hart told me he had to manhandle it to get it apart. Any idea what a shop will charge to balance it?

if its back the way it came apart then it will already be balanced. unless the guy is lying to you. but they are balanced as a whole unit, each half piece isnt balanced individually. so you shouldnt have to do that. This one may be a little tricky to diagnose without physically seeing the car

Well it looks like that shop might of messed up the U- joint getting the drive shaft separated. It has a lit of play on one part and it appears the little seal cap was about busted off it. The guy at the shop is probably going to try to act innocent and refuse to do anything about it...
Edit: I'm not sure if they did it or if it happened when I test drove it. I know when I pulled it off the car two of the little rubber O-rings/rubber seals (where it now has a ton of play) had dry rotted and broke then fell off. Last edited by CJ74753; 02-26-2013 at 10:55 AM. |
