So i heard you can hold the key in the door to either the lock or unlock position and the windows will either go up or down depending on which way your holding the key....
So i got an M3 and was pretty excited about this feature.... so i tried the auto up feature and it worked.... and then i tried putting the windows down........... and it didnt work.
Is it just auto up? relay/fuse problem? help me out, thanks!
Depends on your car. It was an option with certain models. As for the auto up and not down, consult the owner's manual. I believe it's supposed to be both ways or no ways, so it might be a relay. Then again, I'm not the best electrician.
It works wonderfully on all windows. But definitely not the sunroof, though the roof opens and closes by button control.
I wish it did, cos in this warming weather frequently I leave it locked but with the roof/windows open slightly. When the weather turns, I then have to unlock the car, turn the ignition on, press and hold, wait, turn off, close, lock. Such a hardship is life with a sunroof!
What unit controls all this gear? Perhaps there is a wire that leads from one control unit to another, that is the problem area.
Iono, I just know that somehow all that is tied in there. I would think the ZKW thingy would have something to do with it as well, tho I don't remember much of those systems off the top of my head.
Are you waiting long enough for the sun roof? It will not close until all windows are up and you may have to wait a few seconds for it to start closing. BTW -up only for me too.
Hmm, Mine only closes the windows, no opening them. I've tried waiting a little bit but it never moved the sunroof. Will try waiting longer tonight and report back.
So I tried this today... Mine rolls up the windows, does nothing for the sunroof. I'm going to wire in a relay from the windows to the sunroof so that when it engages the up feature to close the windows, it will also close the sunroof.
only COMFORT CLOSING is available so that if you forgot to close the sunroof when you got out you would not havo to hit your head on the roof, turn the key on,and push the darn switch.
COMFORT OPENING was introduced when the remote key was introduced on e-46. Activation is carried out by pressing the "unlock" button and holding it down, all the windows including sunroof would open up. E-46 convertibles had it for awhile and taken away for some unknown reason and I think came back in the later years but the key had to be used in the door lock cylinder to work.
