They both look ****ty.
For some reason the Xenons on Newer Bmw's ( past couple of years ) don't look like xenons... Probably due to the fact that they're using 4300k bulbs.
I changed my xenon d1s bulbs to 6000k and it makes a world of difference. I had a E92 335 and i now have a E93 M3 and they're the same.
Do yourself a favor and get 6000k bulbs
i have to disagree with you on that one youyou, i think the lights on the newer BMW's look much cleaner, whiter and provide more light.
I remember the 98 750iL we used to have, had very blue xenons but the brightness, and clean lighting of the newer 7s wasnt present.
Also, with time u will notice, after the xenon bulb accumulates hours, it will start to show a bluish tint.
