The only solace possible now is speculating (hoping) that the BMW-Williams cars are running a similar fuel load and strategy to Rubens. The SpeedTV boys were pondering if Rubens might be set up for 2 stops instead of 3. Ralf was certainly a lot quicker in Q1 and didn't appear to have blunders in Q2. Barring that, they're middle pack cars. I hate this qualifying format. Can't go away soon enough. I could care less if the Minardi and Jordan sponsors get any airtime.
They need to do that new qualifying format WAY before the British GP. Like right now. Then it takes all this fuel speculation out of the window. Like others have said, it might not change much, but it'd at least prove pure, low-fuel speed.
As for the race, here's hoping Sato gets another start like Monaco, and Trulli a start like Spain, and then things might make for an interesting race. If MS leads the first lap, it could be painful for everyone but Alex...
Hmm, I must admit that it was an interesting qualifying and start grid is looking a little weird
It is very clear that Michael's car is light, so I'm guessing that tomorrow he's going for a 3 stop strategy. Sato is probably even lighter than Michael, he's going to come into the pits in the first 10-12 laps.
I'm not sure about Kimi and Trulli, but the rest of the field will pit 3 times.
Hmm, an odd starting grid. I expect MS to win, but as for everyone else, I can't even begin to guess. This could either be terribly boring or pretty darn exciting (as long as you remember that the #1 spot is more or less taken already), depending on how the drivers sort themselves in the first few laps. I wish I could watch it live.
