Rhine West/Penske

Tranny is in fact fried, they quoted me $5721.00 for new tranny! Isnt that a bit high?

Filed the claim with Penske yesterday, going down to RW today to go over the quote and decide how to move forward. At some point hopefully pretty quick I need to get a quote over to Penske and start praying they take responsibility and pay up.

Im very sad without my car and feel just horrible, I didnt do it but I still feel responsible because if I hadnt been so sick that day this would have never happened, I usually handle everything with my car. My bad unfortunately.

Thanks for responding

This sounds like a horrible story. I hope it works out for you. I'd be surprised if Penske just paid the bill and that was that. In the likely event they fight, you really out to look for a used transfer case and a used transmission from an '04-'06 X3 2.5 (i think you said 2.5).

There's one on ebay right now (not that you have to buy on ebay) but it's only $750 for a transmission with transfer case from an '05 325xi which uses the same setup as the '04-'06 X3 2.5.

If you have salvage yards around, they're bound to have some as well. Maybe you can get Penske to pay for used parts and labor so you're still not out any money.
