Replaced the guibo today
and man I'm impressed with the undercarriage. I love the plastic and aluminum shielding....keeps the unibody looking like new under there. I never thought it would be so easy to do. Between the TIS and Keif's photos it was a 2.5 hour breeze...although I did cheat and use my trans jack to lower the exhaust and hold it up with ratcheting straps to save time. Test drove the car and wow what a difference....guess that part isn't designed to last more then 50k or so. Next week will be the coolant hose and sensor.

Good job... Nice ZX14....Although my next bike will be a Busa. Did you have downshift problem with jerking from 2-1?...is that why you replaced the guibo?

Thanks. No down-shift issue really, just a clunking letting off the accelerator and going into gear sometimes. The old guibo had a ton of visible slop in it, you could move the driveshaft back and forth and visibly see it. Not sure why the dealer charges so much for this...I'd do it all day long for $400 plus the guibo.

Is that your home garage with a lift? I love something like that!

Yep I did the adaption as well, she used to shift waaaay early. I didn't change the trans fluid but had been contemplating it, I used to do it every 15k or so on my Dodge, and she still has her original trans at 194k.

If it shifts well now, I vote not to mess with a good thing. Just my $0.02.

Is your 2 post Asymmetric? Could you do me a favor and let me know where the posts end up on your 7? maybe a measurement from the front to the post and the back to the post. I'm about to install a Rotary 10K Asymmetric in my garage and want to get it close to right on the money. Last edited by racerock; 11-23-2010 at 08:00 PM. |

OK, thanks, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm surprised you said dead center - was expecting something towards the front of the front door (A pillar area) and not between the doors (the B pillar). Nice garage by the way. What bike do you have?

Can anyone confirm that the guibo partnumber here is for the 750s as well. The guibo for a 750 is showing up on realoem as a different part number. See below 745 Guibo http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...89&hg=26&fg=10 750 Guibo http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...89&hg=26&fg=10

I alo posted a few days ago at sell/buy threads but got no responces even though price is cheap, well at least i think it cheap because i paid much more. This is how my post looks there; BMW e65/66 Driveshaft Flex Disc universal joint OEM guibo coupler

New Yorkers welcome for in person transaction. As a bonus i will include also set of two cabin charcoal filters, its a good brand, sorry its in the box in my car in parking lot can't go to see a brand. Sorry again guys.
