Hi folks....my wife has a 06' X3 and I was wondering how we can get her MP3 player to work?...In the radio section of the owners manual it say you can retro-fit for MP3?.....Any ideas? The car is lisited as having CD w/MP3.....Thanks
yes, the CD player will play a MP3-burned CD. you can buy an ipod adapter to get your actual MP3 player to interface with the radio though. it's not standard.
There should be plenty options available on iPod adapters/modules. BMW sells a module that plugs straight into the back of your HU (developed by Apple and BMW). I had one in my previous X3 that worked very well! I now just use an MP3 burnt CD in the HU. But search the net and you'll find other options like Dice, etc. Modules that have nicer functionalities like song titles on the HU etc. There's also a lot of discussions on this forum that will help...
You can get an Aux 3.5 jack that plugs into the back of the radio. Or as other posters mentioned the iPod adapter that plugs into the CD changer socket. Link below:
