Help with vehicle considerations...

As a few of you know, my 2004 330 offed herself at the beginning of the year. I am at a loss of what to repkace her with. Nothing is giving me that "I'm in love with that car" feeling. That has opened me up to the following cars. Any pro's or con's would be helpful.

1. 2014-15 certified lease return/used 535i w/m-sport (wondering if there are any common things to watch out for on these)

2. 2017-18 (facelift version) VW Golf GTI or R (these just seem way too expensive...40k for a hatchback seems a bit excessive, but I like the design and style)

3. 2017 Kia Niro (pro: 50mpg, tons of tech, con: first model year, and a bit pricey for a Kia Dealers are asking 30-34k on nicely equipped versions)

4. 2017 Audi A3 or Q3 (pros: decently equipped starting at 31k)

Responding bulleted back.

1) I have a 14 550...the only thing i regret is not have one with the dynamic handling package. I have read it really makes the car handle much better and mine tends to be a little floaty and boatish.

2) I like the GTI...maybe chipped? The R on the other hand does not seem worth it to me. I would think go Audi for their version...

The other two are meh to me. Audi non-S or RS do little for me. I drove an A7 and was utterly unimpressed by the actual drive of the car. Nice inside but not fun to drive...

Thank you for the feedback Justin!

I also saw a few nicely equipped 550's at decent prices, but I'm scared of the gas mileage on the V8.

Chipped GTI sounds nice except all the power goes to the front wheels. If they had an AWD GTI, I'd do it. If you want AWD, you're forced into the R.

If you do much urban/city driving, yeah you are going to get pretty awful mileage...mid teens likely. We get 19-20 with mixed driving. Our last fill up was from around 70-80% highway driving and we got about 24...

I had a friend with a chipped GTI and it seemed balanced enough even with the FWD from my recollection of my time behind the wheel but that was probably a previous gen model as this was a good four years ago I believe. Likely something you would need to try out for yourself though to be sure and that is not easy to come by.

I just bought a 2014 535xi with M Sport w/ 30k miles for $39k and honestly I couldn't be happier. I just upgraded from a 2008 328xi and I'm absolutely floored by my new car.
