engine failure

Hi every one. I drive a bmw 320iF30, 2013 model. As i was driving 130km/h, the engine went off, the steering wheel went stiff. I controlled the car and pulled over without causing an accident. The car could not start let alone crank when you press the start button. What could be the cause of this. No errors were displayed on the screen at the time. I went to bmw and they said the engined siezed- needs to be replaced

Assuming you have the N20, I'm going to go with your oil pump chain taking out your engine.

Wow engine stopping@130km/hr can be quite dangerous. So has the dealer disclosed what caused the engine seize, and is BMW going to cover it?

Bad engine on a 320? You don't say?

OP, I had a brand new '15 320, engine went at around 14K miles... I got a trade assist out of it.

Interesting you told people you got tired of your 320 and just got a 328, now you had a trade assist from BMW because of an engine issue!

I haven't had an engine seize on my before, and they make a very loud noise, you lose power gradually, so I'm not sure if this just happen out of the blue. Would be interesting to hear what BMW says.

Wow. You just saved yourself north of 10 large.

I heard a few occurrences of N20 catastrophic failures. I do not recall or know the cause.
